Weaving a car with a toad turnpike is especially impressive. The 16 tracks have a normal location, with relatively traditional circuits along the mountains and winter stages. The use of slopes, drops and undulating terrain opens up different racing possibilities than its predecessor. The biggest change in switching to the provided polygons was the addition of elevation to the track. The music is usually catchy and bright, and the location matches well with the taste of Carribbean at Koopa Troopa Beach, or the more sinister sound of Bowser’s castle. When it comes to audio, there are some very effective sounds, such as driving a rattling bridge or breaking the surrounding ice after Lakitu catches you out of frozen water. The edges and landscape of the track sometimes look very angular and the racer’s sprites look a bit rough around the edges, but in general the bright and cartoon style works well, usually moving around too fast, while Carter and the circuit can’t pay much attention to the visual discrepancies of. Elsewhere in the game, there are waterfalls, caves, and simple snow effects. This is evident from the first track, where the billboards and trees are laterally separated, the action mirroring video screen, and a drive through a tunnel where the light is adjusted accordingly. Utilizing more powerful N64 hardware, there are obvious graphic upgrades from the first game, and the SNES Mode 7 presentation is thrown away due to the combination of polygons (tracks) and pre-rendered sprites (racers). You can play alone or with two people, you can tackle the cup on normal 50, 100, 150cc difficulty, and you can unlock the mirror mode. The Mario Grand Prix is the main mode in which you choose one of the eight characters and race the remaining seven in four cups. Allowed split-screen races and battles with friends.

This second title in the series was originally released for the Nintendo 64 (clues were included in the title), doubling the potential number of players in the SNES original, up to three in different modes. Of course, the Wii U and Switch have great Mario Kart 8 (Deluxe), but the series’ desperate 4-player local multiplayer debuted on Mario Kart 64. Many people who buy Nintendo hardware are looking forward to the inevitable cart action. The Mario Kart series is the best of them. Since the Mario Kart series began in 1992, it has worked very well to take a lot of Mario characters and sprint through the race circuit with a variety of special items. This review was originally published in 2016, but has been updated and republished to show the introduction of the N64 game on Nintendo Switch Online.
